Upholstery Tips
- Your furniture collects everyday dirt and soil just like your carpet so a light vacuuming on a regular basis will help to keep your upholstery looking good.
- As you are vacuuming why not turn the back and base cushions to even out the wear.
- UV light will cause fabric to fade; if you have upholstery in front of a window it may be advisable to draw the curtains or blinds.
- Mop up any spill as they happen.
- Once you have cleaned up a spill dry it off with a hair dryer on a cool setting. This should stop water margins from accruing.
- Try to move the furniture around in the room, this could shear the wearer.
- If your pet sits or sleeps on the upholstery cover that seat with a throw to reduce the soiling.
- Avoid cat scratches by supplying a scratching post for the cat.
- Pens and ink stains can difficult to remove from fabric, try not to keep pens in your back pocket.
- If there is a pull of thread coming from the upholstery do not pull it or cut it, attempt to tuck it back into the fabric.
